And with built-in wireless connectivity and Roland Cloud Connect on your smartphone, you can instantly change up your sound with a growing library of V-Drums Instrument Expansions, Kit Packs, and more. The VAD716 brings V-Drums 7 Series expressive power to a flagship V-Drums Acoustic Design kit. The PD-14DSX takes our digital snare technology to the next level with even more detailed sensing, a snare throw-off lever, and a snare tension knob. The KD-22 offers authentic looks and playability with a full-depth wood shell and an innovative drumhead-mounted sensor. This six-piece kit also features two rack toms, two floor toms, our acclaimed digital hi-hat and ride, and two 16-inch V-Cymbals. Sound choices.
The V-Drums 7 Series gives you the freedom to shape your drum voice like never before, putting premium-grade sounds, easy instrument expansions, and professional studio processing tools at your fingers.
Think you know V-Drums? Think again.
Our V71 module launches the V-Drums sound into a new dimension of realism and creative command. The onboard drum library has been created from the ground up, with instruments never featured in any previous module. Crafted from a hand-picked selection of the world’s finest drum sets, these record-ready sounds deliver the detail, punch, and sonic quality found in the most expensive computer collections.
Recording process.
The V71 sound library was originally recorded and mixed at 32-bit/192 kHz resolution in pro studios around the globe, with intensive sessions manned by leading engineers who know how to capture incredible drum sounds. A large part of the collection was recorded in direct collaboration with DW in Oxnard, California, ensuring a seamless experience between the hardware module and the DW Soundworks software instrument.
New sounds, on demand.
While previous V-Drums modules offer deep editing capabilities, the onboard sound libraries are fixed and can’t be expanded. The V71 module changes all that, letting you freely change up the sound set for the first time. Open the Roland Cloud Connect app on your mobile device to access a growing range of V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles via your wireless network. Then, find the sounds you want, download them directly to the module, and start drumming immediately.
Choose your perspective.
When you’re a serious drummer, your sound exists in two distinct universes. One is the intimate, up-close sound of the drums when you’re behind the kit. The second is the produced sound created for a recording or live PA, which is typically processed with EQs, compressors, and ambience. Some V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles have been specially mixed for both the drummer and producer positions, letting you create the playing experience you want at the touch of a button.
Unrivaled expression.
Like top-tier drum sound libraries for computers, the V71 features multi-layer sample playback and round-robin randomization for natural sound with no “machine-gun” effect. Roland’s proprietary behaviour modeling adds the finishing touch, refining the sound with smooth, artifact-free transitions for every articulation and over 16,000 variations in dynamic response with our digital pads. Together with our latest sensors and digital trigger technologies, the V-Drums 7 Series delivers an inspiring, acoustic-like playing feel that’s second to none in the electronic drumming world.
Two ways to play.
When you play a V-Drums 7 Series kit, you'll enjoy a consistent drumming experience across every creative environment. Perform on stage with robust, reliable hardware, then transition to the studio and a computer-based workflow with the very same sounds.
Hardware convenience.
Nothing beats dedicated hardware for quick setup and trouble-free playing in demanding situations. With the V71 module, you get no-compromise sound and pro audio connectivity—including multiple direct outs for individual drums—housed in a rugged command center with fast startup, an informative color display, and quick-access controls.
Computer flexibility.
Every V-Drums 7 Series kit can trigger sounds in DW Soundworks,* a revolutionary drum software instrument that runs as a standalone computer application or a DAW plug-in. Many DW Soundworks expansions mirror V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles, allowing you to transition to software-based drumming with the identical sound and response as the module. *Included with Roland Cloud Ultimate membership.
Expand your world.
On Roland Cloud, you’ll never run out of fresh inspiration for your drumming journeys. V-Drums Instrument Expansions add all-new drum kits to the module, recorded using the same detailed process as the core library. Up to six expansions can be active at once, and you can freely exchange kicks, snares, cymbals, and other components between different kits. We also offer V-Drums Kit Packs created by top drummers and producers, which are customized kits built from the core sound library.
Roland Cloud membership included.
Purchasing a V-Drums 7 Series kit includes six months of the Roland Cloud Ultimate membership tier. New gen, new concept.
The V71 is the deepest and most advanced sound module we’ve ever produced. The famous hands-on V-Drums workflow remains, but everything else has been overhauled, rebuilt, and refreshed. Ultra-powerful DSP and greatly expanded waveform memory unlock a universe of creative expression never before possible. Preset changes, sound edits, and mix adjustments are smoother and faster than ever, thanks to the vivid color display, updated workflow features, tactile controls, and ergonomic panel layout.
Add your own sounds.
Sometimes, you need specific sounds to support an artist on tour. Or maybe you rely on a personal sample collection to reinforce your acoustic drums in studio productions. The module’s sample import function makes it easy to customize your palette and build any sound you can imagine. Each pad assignment provides three layers that can include any combination of internal sounds or external samples.
Go deep with V-Edit.
All the built-in sounds and V-Drums Instrument Expansions come finely tuned and ready to play, with no adjustment necessary. But if you like to personalize the details, enhanced V-Edit tools let you dive deeper than ever. Virtually adjust any drum or cymbal just as you would an acoustic instrument, from head types, damping, and tuning to snare wire tension, mic distance, and much more.
Go even deeper with the V71 Editor.
V-Drums users have long requested a software-based editor, and now it’s here. Available as a free download on Roland Cloud, the V71 Editor extends your editing workflow with a large computer screen and mouse control. It works seamlessly with the onboard V-Edit tools, and your instrument changes are instantly reflected in both the module and editor software.
Wireless freedom.
The V71 features a built-in Roland wireless adapter that links with your network, letting you audition and download sound content directly via the Roland Cloud Connect app on a mobile device. You can update the module wirelessly, making it simple to stay up to date with the latest system software. Bluetooth audio/MIDI is also available, allowing you to jam with songs on your phone, play along with video lessons, wirelessly record MIDI in music software, and more.
All the connections you need.
The V71 rear panel offers balanced outputs for professional audio connections, including XLR and 1/4-inch stereo main outputs and eight 1/4-inch direct outputs. Three high-speed trigger inputs support our advanced digital pads, while 14 analog trigger inputs offer full compatibility with standard V-Pads. There’s also a stereo mix input—perfect for blending in an external instrument such as an SPD series percussion pad—plus an assignable footswitch jack and an SD card slot for data backup, sample import, audio file playback, and recording.
Multi-channel audio and MIDI.
Use the module’s integrated USB audio/MIDI interface to communicate with DW Soundworks, the V71 Editor, and other music software. And capture up to 32 audio channels in your DAW over a single cable. Traditional MIDI I/O is also available to connect with all types of MIDI hardware.
Your personal drumming coach.
One of the most loved V-Drums features is the onboard coach mode, which offers an array of fun tools to develop techniques and keep your playing sharp. There’s an advanced metronome and classics such as Time Check and Quiet Count, plus new tools like Phrase Trainer for rhythmic practice, Stroke Monitor for stick control, and Blast Beast for building accuracy and endurance. V-Drums 7 Series kits also include Drum Pass, an exclusive Roland bundle of 100 Melodics™ interactive lessons specially developed for V-Drums players.
Stay focused with V-Drums Play.
By design, all V-Drums modules are very easy to use. But if you want an even more streamlined experience, V-Drums Play is for you. This companion app provides direct control of essential module functions from your smartphone, including kit selection, metronome settings, and recording to capture your drumming at any time. Perfect for beginners and acoustic players new to electronic drums, V-Drums Play keeps you focused on what matters most—having fun and improving every day.
Our groundbreaking digital pads communicate with the V71 module at lightning-fast speed, enabling you to coax the subtlest nuances from the most expressive kit components. Advanced multi-sensor trigger systems and innovative hardware details optimize each pad for its role, backed by the module’s powerful DSP for the lowest latency available. And with their satisfying acoustic feel, our famous multi-layer mesh heads remain the best you can get in electronic drumming.
14-inch digital snare.
The PD-14DSX takes our digital snare technology to a new level of acoustic realism and playing comfort. The softest articulations are translated in astonishing detail, and hand position is automatically detected for seamless transitions between headshots, rimshots, and cross-stick playing. A throw-off mechanism turns the snares on or off with the flip of a lever, while a knurled strainer knob lets you dial in snare tension with a twist. The knob also doubles as a push control for easy operation of different module functions.
14-inch digital hi-hats.
The VH-14D is a true game changer, bringing unparalleled touch sensitivity, tonal variation, and open/closed resolution to electronic hi-hats. The top/bottom cymbal design provides a familiar look and feel, while the high-res detection system captures stick articulations and footwork in flawless detail.
18-inch digital ride.
With its standard size, familiar motion, and ultra-detailed response, the CY-18DR will inspire the most expressive ride players. The high-resolution, multi-sensor system detects every stroke from edge to bell for precision dynamics and response. Techniques from cymbal rolls to soft bell strokes are fully translated, and you can mute the bow and bell with a finger touch—just like an acoustic ride.
Reassuring kick feel.
Building a low-noise electronic kick pad with an authentic acoustic playing feel is trickier than it seems. The Roland drum team has spent years working on this challenge to bring you the best-feeling kick pads, no matter the size. Through careful study, detailed analysis methods, and innovative materials and construction, our kick pads deliver that deep, satisfying “thud” every drummer seeks—while also keeping in-room noise in check.
Please note: Kick pedal, snare stand, hi-hat stand, and drum throne are not included.
